Education for Students

The Trent Center covers a wide range of topics in bioethics and medical history in its educational offerings in undergraduate medical education in the School of Medicine. These are integrated into each year of the curriculum and comprise lectures, small-group discussions, and voluntary interest groups in both history of medicine and bioethics. Students interested in exploring these subjects and other topics related to the social and cultural aspects of medicine can elect a research project during their third year as part of the Medical Humanities study track. In addition, center faculty frequently teach classes for undergraduate and graduate students at Duke.

A new course, Bioethics, is being offered in the fall of 2009 and is open to Duke seniors and graduate and professional students.
