Trent Center Welcomes New Faculty Member in Research Ethics

The Trent Center is delighted to welcome Chris Simon, PhD, a medical anthropologist, to a new position at Duke focused on research ethics. Professor Simon comes to Duke following nearly 10 years at the University of Iowa, where he created and led a clinical research ethics consultation service. His scholarship has examined many facets of informed consent, including its application in bio-banking, multicultural settings using interpreters, and most recently the use of digitalized formats for informed consent documents. He has also served as Associate Editor of the American Journal of Bioethics: Empirical Ethics. Professor Simon’s responsibilities at Duke will include playing a central role in Duke’s new efforts to promote research integrity, including teaching, scholarship, and consultation.
