I am currently an attending hospital medicine physician as well as Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Duke Regional Hospital. My interest in ethical aspects of medicine started as an undergraduate where I minored in philosophy. I am currently co-chair of the DRH Ethics Committee and have served on the Peer Review committee for several years. I am also the director of the Duke Hospital Medicine Expert Witness Program where I train and supervise hospital medicine providers in their work as expert witnesses for malpractice cases. I am doing the ethics fellowship program to broaden my understanding of how ethicists can better support providers and clinicians in how to best incorporate ethical principles into the practice of medicine and provide highly compassionate, just care for patients and their families. I'm interested in the intersections between ethics, technology and law and plan to explore the practical implications of those intersections throughout this exciting year.
