I am a current general surgery resident at Duke University Hospital, with a career interest in surgical oncology, specifically malignancies of the hepato-pancreato-biliary system. My first exposure to clinical ethics was in undergrad at Case Western Reserve University, where I dually enrolled in a masters in bioethics in my final year of college. Fortuitously, my mentor in medical school at Vanderbilt University was both a trauma surgeon and a member of the hospital ethics committee, who in turn introduced me to the complex and fascinating ethical questions specifically surrounding acute surgical care. I am excited to combine further exposure in clinical ethics with my surgical training, and am deeply appreciative of the opportunity afforded by Duke to do so!
