Bioethics is centrally concerned with questions of value and morality that lie at the heart of medicine. What is medicine for? What makes for a good doctor-patient relationship, morally and otherwise? Is there a right to health care? Are inequalities of health unjust? Is rationing health care unjust? Under what conditions is it permissible to conduct medical research on human beings? Is it permissible for doctors to assist patients with suicide?
Faculty members in the Trent Center have written on these topics and many others besides, as have many of our faculty Associates. We conduct research, teach courses, and engage students across a broad array of areas in bioethics.
