The potential to reduce health inequity and improve the well-being of our local and global communities is what drives me to pursue a research doctorate at Duke. As a second-year nursing PhD student interested in the intersection of climate change and health, I am eager to explore how clinical ethics can inform and guide ethical decision-making in healthcare settings, in policy, and in industry. To make tangible change in how patients are cared for, how our communities develop, and how we mitigate the urgent climate crisis, the work we do must be ethical. As a developing nurse scientist passionate about health equity and social justice, I am curious how these factors intersect with clinical ethics, especially within the context of populations disproportionately affected by climate change. I am excited to use my background in emergency nursing and previous global health experiences to explore clinical ethics while considering the changing climate.
